Russia launches Iskander missiles and nearly 200 drones in overnight attack on Ukraine

Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight with Iskander missiles and drones of various types. Most enemy targets were destroyed by air defense forces, reports the Ukrainian Air Force.
"On the night of March 9, the enemy attacked with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, as well as 197 attack drones of Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, and drones of other types from six directions, about 120 of them — Shaheds," the Air Force said.
It is noted that the air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of this morning, air defense shot down or suppressed 161 enemy drones of Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas types, and drones of other types in the north, south, and east of the country.
At the same time, hits of two missiles and 36 attack drones were recorded, as well as the fall of downed enemy targets at one location.
"Attack continues, several enemy UAVs remain in the airspace. Follow safety rules," the Air Force added.
Russian strikes on Ukraine
The previous night, Russia attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 117 attack drones from six directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down 98 enemy drones.
In addition, on the night of March 7, Russian troops launched 29 missiles at Ukraine, most of them ballistic, as well as 480 drones.
In particular, a ballistic strike on a multi-story residential building in Kharkiv caused fire. There are dead and injured as a result of the attack, including children.
