On the night of March 8, Russia attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 117 strike drones launched from six directions. Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down 98 enemy UAVs, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
According to the military, from 7:00 p.m. local time on March 7 until the morning of March 8, Russian forces launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles (from Russia’s Rostov and Voronezh regions) along with 117 attack drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmás, and other types of UAVs.
The drones were launched from six directions: Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Millerovo in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.
About 70 of the launched UAVs were Shahed drones.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, drone units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 9:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 98 enemy drones — including Shahed and Gerbera types — in the north, south, and east of the country.
At the same time, hits from two ballistic missiles and 19 attack drones were recorded at 11 locations.
Attacks on Ukraine
It is worth noting that on the night of March 7, Russian troops launched 29 missiles at Ukraine, most of them ballistic, along with 480 drones.
The heaviest strikes targeted Kyiv, Dnipro, and Kharkiv. Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions, along with other parts of the country, were also hit.
In particular, a ballistic missile strike on a residential high-rise in Kharkiv caused a fire. The attack resulted in deaths and injuries, including children.
