Russia intensifies offensive operations in eastern Ukraine - British intelligence
In the Avdiivka-Pokrovsk sector in eastern Ukraine, Russian operations have intensified over the past week. The Russian forces are likely preparing for an offensive on Pokrovsk, according to the press service of the UK Ministry of Defense.
As reported by British intelligence, Russian troops have partially encircled the town of Selydove and will likely attempt to capture it in the coming weeks.
At the same time, Russian forces are advancing toward the center of Toretsk, but their progress is slow, and their current positions in the town remain vulnerable to Ukrainian counterattacks.
In Vuhledar, which was captured by Russian forces in early October 2024, the offensive outside the town is making little progress. The town is located at the intersection of two key fronts, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk, which gives it strategic importance.
Additionally, there are signs of increased Russian offensive operations in the eastern part of Zaporizhzhia. Reports indicate that Russian troops have captured the village of Kamianske on the Zaporizhzhia-Melitopol highway. However, this area has remained relatively stable for over a year, and it remains unclear whether Russian forces will be able to develop an offensive in this direction.
Situation on the front
In recent months, Russian troops have continued their offensive across several sections of the front, focusing their efforts in Donetsk, particularly toward Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Toretsk.
Recently, Ukrainian forces were forced to leave Vuhledar to avoid encirclement.
On October 10, there were 169 combat engagements along the front line, with the most intense fighting occurring in the Lyman direction.
