Russian forces launched a missile strike on Dnipro on the evening of May 5. The attack killed civilians, according to Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration head Oleksandr Hanzha and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Hanzha, a fire broke out at an enterprise following the strike.

He said that three people were killed. Nine others were injured, one of them in critical condition. Doctors are providing medical assistance to the injured.

Later, the President said at least four people were confirmed dead as a result of the strike on Dnipro.

It is worth noting that Ukraine’s Air Force had warned at around 07:50 p.m. about a high-speed target (a ballistic missile) heading toward Dnipro.

Russian strikes

Russian forces carried out several attacks on civilian targets earlier on May 5.

In particular, Zaporizhzhia was hit with guided aerial bombs. As of now, 12 people are reported dead and 37 are injured. A day of mourning has been declared in the city for May 6.

Russian forces also struck Kramatorsk with high-explosive bombs.

The strikes hit directly in the city center, where civilians were present. So far, five people are reported dead and 12 injured in the Russian attack.

The attacks come a day after Russia’s Defense Ministry announced a planned ceasefire with Ukraine for May 8–9. Russian leader Vladimir Putin said the move was intended to ensure security during Victory Day celebrations.
