Russia fires missile on Mykolaiv, Ukraine's military downs Su-25 aircraft - Friday brief

The Russians used a Kh-59 missile in their strike on Mykolaiv. The impact damaged a playground at a kindergarten in the courtyard of the high-rise buildings. The blast wave and debris also damaged several residential buildings.
According to the latest data, 4 people have been killed in the Russian strike. The victims include two men, a woman, and a child. 4 other residents of the city were injured in the attack.
Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy Russian Su-25 aircraft in Donetsk region
“In the Pokrovsk direction, the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Su-25 combat aircraft that tried to shell the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces,” the report says.
The plane was shot down by anti-aircraft gunners from the separate mechanized brigade named after General Standard Bearer Marko Bezruchko. According to the Ukrainian military, the Russian plane is already burning in the steppes of the Ukrainian Donbas.
Scholz rejects Zelenskyy's call to shoot down missiles and drones over Ukraine
According to the media, Scholz's objections also extended to Zelenskyy's call to lift restrictions on using provided Western weaponry for strikes on Russian territory.
When asked if Scholz agreed with other NATO countries regarding Zelenskyy's appeals, he said: "I see a consensus that such steps are out of the question, and the United States has also made this very clear."
Ukraine and UK sign defense deal worth over $2.5 billion
The document will enable the initiation of Ukrainian-British projects in the defense sector. It specifically mentions the supply, repair, and partial production of air defense systems, armored vehicles, and ammunition.
The agreement stipulates that British suppliers can enter into credit agreements and contracts with Ukraine for £2 billion (over $2.5 billion). This amount may be increased in the future. The loan repayment period is 15 years.
