Trump envoys' visit to Moscow

Efforts are underway with US mediation to resume peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, with the main goal of ending the war launched by the aggressor country.

The first meeting between US and Russian envoys took place in Moscow on Saturday, September 5.

Following the talks, Russian leader's aide Yuri Ushakov said they lasted more than three hours and were substantive and constructive.

According to him, the US side presented a number of ideas on possible ways to end the war. At the same time, Ushakov said that envoys of Donald Trump's administration promised to take into account the assessments voiced by the leader during further negotiations with Ukraine.

Axios reported, citing a source, that the US delegation also included envoys of the National Security Council, the State Department, and the US Treasury Department. They were expected to discuss proposals for ending the war with the Russian side.

In addition, Bloomberg reported that the Russian leader used the visit of the US special envoys to demonstrate his influence inside Russia ahead of the parliamentary elections.
