Putin kept Trump's envoys waiting for hours in Moscow: New details emerge

Russia's Vladimir Putin used the visit of US special envoys to demonstrate his influence within Russia ahead of the parliamentary elections, according to Bloomberg.
US President Donald Trump's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, arrived in Moscow for talks.
However, the Russian President decided to use their visit for his own political purposes.
According to the agency's sources, Putin deliberately delayed the start of the meeting in the Kremlin to demonstrate his power within Russia ahead of the State Duma elections, scheduled for September 18–20.
Due to the delay on the Kremlin's part, the American representatives were forced to spend several hours having lunch with Putin's aide Kirill Dmitriev at an expensive Moscow restaurant.
Trump envoys' visit to Moscow
With US mediation, the process of resuming peace talks between Ukraine and Russia is underway, intending to end the war unleashed by Russia.
The first meeting between the American side and representatives of Russia took place on Saturday, September 5. After the meeting in Moscow, Putin's aide, Yuri Ushakov, stated that the talks had lasted over three hours and were substantive and constructive.
According to Ushakov, the American side presented a number of ideas regarding possible ways to end the war. At the same time, he noted that representatives of the Trump administration had promised during the talks with Ukraine to take into account the assessments voiced by Putin.
Axios reported that the US delegation also included representatives from the National Security Council, the State Department, and the Treasury Department. They were to discuss proposals for ending the war.
