Romania's Ministry of Defense plans to reach an agreement with Ukraine on the joint production of drones, which are later expected to be sold to other European countries as well, Digi24 reports.

According to the media outlet, the idea is that Romania will fund the components of the drones, which are to be developed by Ukrainian specialists based on their recent combat experience.

The next phase will involve investment in a manufacturing facility in Romania, likely in the city of Brașov, where Romanians and Ukrainians will jointly produce the drones.

The majority of the equipment produced will be supplied to the Romanian army, while the rest is intended for sale to other European countries. Ukraine has already signed similar drone production agreements with Denmark and Norway.

Romania's Minister of National Defense is expected to meet soon with his Ukrainian counterpart and other Kyiv officials to discuss the details of the deal.

The report notes that the main obstacle to implementing the project is a lack of funding in Romania, which is why production will likely be delayed until 2026, when a new military budget is adopted.

As previously reported, Ukrainian company Frontline has signed a strategic agreement with the German-Ukrainian drone manufacturer Quantum Systems.

Furthermore, a French automaker and a defense plant are set to jointly produce drones on Ukrainian territory. These drones will be supplied not only to Ukrainian forces but also to the French military.

Earlier, the reports indicated that Ghana is ready to fund the production of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
