Ghana ready to fund Ukrainian drone production in new partnership

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Ukraine's intention to strengthen cooperation with Ghana in the agricultural and defense sectors, writing about it in a public statement.
According to him, the two countries share a mutual interest in deepening their bilateral partnership.
"We discussed areas where we can already deepen our partnership, first and foremost in the agro-industrial sector and the creation of a food logistics hub in Ghana," the president said.
The two sides agreed to organize a ministerial-level meeting, and a Ukrainian delegation is expected to visit Ghana in the near future.
Zelenskyy also noted that Ghana is interested in Ukrainian technologies — particularly in the production of various types of drones and in the wartime experience Ukraine has gained.
"Ghana is ready to finance our production, and we are ready to help our partners secure their borders," the president emphasized.
What is known about Ghana
Ghana is a country in West Africa, strategically located on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. It is considered one of the region's most stable democracies and plays an important role in promoting security and development across the continent. Ghana's economy is based on the extraction of gold, oil, cocoa, and agriculture, but the government is actively working to diversify and attract foreign investment, particularly in agribusiness and infrastructure.
Ghana is also seeking to strengthen its defense capabilities and digital infrastructure, and is currently interested in expanding cooperation with Ukraine.
In the fall of last year, reports emerged that some Ghanaian citizens were deceived by recruiters and ended up in the Russian army.
They had been promised high-paying jobs in security or agriculture. The so-called employer brought them to Kostroma, Russia, where the migrants allegedly signed employment contracts — but it later turned out they had unknowingly signed contracts to serve in the Russian military in its war against Ukraine.
