Migrants from Ghana complain about being forced by Russia to fight against Ukraine
Ghanaian citizens were tricked by employers and ended up in the Russian army. They had been promised well-paying jobs in Russia, according t the Ghanaian news agency GhanaWeb.
According to the source, in early August, 14 migrants from Ghana went to work in Russia. They were promised high-paying jobs in security or agriculture.
The so-called employer took the Ghanaians to the city of Kostroma, where the migrants allegedly signed a labor contract. However, it turned out that this was a contract with the Russian army to fight against Ukraine.
"He told us that there's a job opportunity here in Russia, which is security work and agriculture. So we paid for our own plane ticket and visa fee. Before, he told us that it was a security work, so when they brought the contract, we thought it was a contract for our training," one of the migrants said.
As of September 17, only 3 out of the 14 men remain, with the rest reported missing.
Russia recruits foreigners for war in Ukraine
This is not the first time the Kremlin has used foreigners to participate in the war against Ukraine. Earlier, the Russian forces tried to recruit Serbs and Ukrainians living in the occupied territories.
The Center for National Resistance also reported that Russia has involved tens of thousands of mercenaries from Africa and Asia. Later, it became known about the arrival of mercenaries from Cuba and Nepal on the occupied territories to participate in combat operations.
However, the Kremlin miscalculated somewhere, and mercenaries from Nepal began to desert en masse from the Russian army.
