Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the advanced nuclear drone Poseidon to intimidate Western countries and disrupt their support for Ukraine, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation.
The center noted that Putin mentioned tests of the Poseidon drone and the Burevestnik missile after the US imposed new sanctions on Lukoil and Rosneft.
"Putin's scare tactics about invincible weapons are an attempt at psychological pressure on the West. Moscow is trying to intimidate Ukraine's allies, particularly the US, to slow down military aid, and to force the world to accept conditions favorable to Russia for ending the war," the Center said.
They added that the sanctions have pressured Putin so much that he now mentions every missile, frightening the world with nuclear weapons that Russia would not be able to use anyway.
Such threats are likely a reaction to isolation, economic pressure, and fear of the consequences of aggression against Ukraine.
Poseidon tests
Previously, Putin claimed that Russia successfully tested the underwater nuclear drone Poseidon. According to him, the weapon is equipped with a nuclear installation that can be launched within minutes and seconds.
He made the statement a few days after Russia announced successful tests of the Burevestnik missile, which allegedly can reach any point in the world.
In response to Putin's statements, US President Donald Trump emphasized that the Kremlin leader should end the war in Ukraine rather than testing new missiles.
