Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced the successful testing of the underwater drone Poseidon, which allegedly has a nuclear power unit, according to Russian media.

“Yesterday, we conducted another test of another promising system — it is the unmanned underwater vehicle Poseidon, also with a nuclear power plant,” Putin said.

The Russian leader claimed that Poseidon is allegedly equipped with a small nuclear unit, which is a thousand times smaller than a nuclear submarine reactor.

“The most important thing is that while a conventional reactor starts up over hours, days, or weeks, this nuclear reactor starts up within minutes or seconds,” the Kremlin head noted.

He added that during the Poseidon tests, it was possible to launch the nuclear power unit, and the apparatus “operated for a certain amount of time.”

Burevestnik

Earlier, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, stated that on October 21, Russia allegedly conducted successful tests of the Burevestnik missile.

Russia claims that the Burevestnik missile supposedly has unlimited flight range and can carry a nuclear warhead. However, according to Western analysts, Moscow has conducted dozens of tests of this system, of which only one or two are considered successful.

The most notorious incident occurred on August 8, 2019, in the Arkhangelsk region, when the missile exploded during testing. Five Russian scientists were killed, and a short-term increase in radiation levels was recorded in the region.

After that, US President Donald Trump stated that Putin should end the war against Ukraine rather than test his missiles.
