Poland wants to transfer control over Ukrainian grain export to two EU countries
The Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Robert Telus, states that Poland may transfer control over the export of Ukrainian grain to Germany and Lithuania, according to Rzeczpospolita.
The corresponding proposal was made by the minister during the negotiations between Poland and Ukraine.
He also suggests concluding an agreement that guarantees no Ukrainian grain supply to the Polish market until the end of the year. Control over the transportation of grain to German and Lithuanian ports would accordingly be transferred to Germany and Lithuania.
Telus also states that the Ukrainian side welcomed these proposals.
Grain dispute
On September 15, the European Commission lifted the ban on importing Ukrainian agricultural products into five neighboring countries. However, Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia unilaterally imposed bans at the state level.
In response, Ukraine filed lawsuits with the World Trade Organization.
At the same time, both Ukraine and Poland expressed confidence that the countries would be able to find a solution that would satisfy both sides.
Recently, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine was introducing a new mechanism for grain exports to neighboring countries.
