Six settlements cleared: General Syrskyi reports on situation in Pokrovsk direction

Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited the Pokrovsk direction, including units conducting stabilization operations on the so-called Dobropillia salient, according to Syrskyi’s post.
"My special attention is on the sections of the front where the situation is hardest. I carried out a field visit to the Pokrovsk direction, particularly to the military management bodies, corps, and brigades conducting stabilization operations on the Dobropillia salient," he wrote.
Syrskyi noted that despite the numerical superiority of Russian forces, the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard units in the area have already cleared six settlements and eliminated hundreds of Russian soldiers.
"I received briefings from commanders on the operational situation, key issues, and unit needs. I issued directives to strengthen defensive resilience. The main task is to respond effectively to changes in enemy tactics while preserving the lives of Ukraine’s defenders as much as possible," the general added.
He also highlighted that newly formed army corps units in the operational area of the Donetsk territorial grouping performed very effectively, taking responsibility for their sectors and destroying Russian forces.
Fighting near Dobropillia
On August 11, the analytical project DeepState reported a Russian breakthrough in the area of Dobropillia. According to analysts, Russian forces approached the settlements of Kucheriv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, and Vesele.
The operational-strategic grouping Dnipro confirmed that the enemy has been acting in small groups, exploiting numerical superiority and attempting to bypass the first line of defense. However, in recent days, Ukrainian defenders have recaptured several previously lost positions.
Later, the General Staff reported that between August 4 and 16, several settlements in the Donetsk region were cleared, including Hruzke, Rubizhne, Novovodiane, Petrivka, Vesele, and Zolotyi Kolodiaz.
General Syrskyi also said the enemy tried to build on the progress near Dobropillia, taking advantage of difficult terrain and gaps in the frontline. However, after the redeployment of Ukrainian units, the victorious mood of Russian forces turned to despair.
