The Polish Defense Minister has urged Ukraine to choose its targets more precisely after a drone incident over Estonia. Such events could play into Russia’s hands, stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during a briefing.

Yesterday, a drone was shot down over Estonian territory. According to the Polish Defense Minister, it was launched from Ukraine.

"Ukraine must —, and this is also what the military and NATO are saying, choose its targets much more precisely so that this does not threaten the security of NATO countries," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

He added that Russia could exploit such incidents for its own purposes — both for propaganda and for escalation and the intensification of hybrid warfare.

The minister stressed that he understands Ukraine’s tactical goals in the war, but believes this does not remove responsibility for the security of allies.

"Understanding its tactical objectives in the war it is waging, it must protect the territory of NATO countries," he added.

Drones over the Baltics: what is known

On May 19, a NATO fighter jet shot down a drone over Estonian territory for the first time. The unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into Lake Võrtsjärv in the south of the country.

Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said it was most likely a Ukrainian drone that went off course due to Russian electronic warfare jamming.

According to RBC-Ukraine, after the incident, Kyiv apologized to Estonia and all Baltic countries.

The Foreign Ministry explained that Russia is deliberately redirecting Ukrainian drones toward Baltic states using electronic warfare systems.
