Pentagon plans to double missile production for possible war with China - WSJ

The Pentagon plans to significantly increase the production of missiles and combat systems to prepare for a possible armed clash with China, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports.
According to the media outlet, doubling production is part of the US efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Military officials and defense contractors are considering the need for large-scale expansion of production facilities, modernization of plants, and the buildup of supply chains.
One of the key problems is the gap between current production capacity and the demand for munitions and missiles that could be required in a major conflict.
The increase in missile production also involves drawing resources from the private sector, accelerating licensing, and removing bureaucratic obstacles for the defense industry.
At the same time, the Pentagon recognizes the risks - the need to balance investments, ensure supply reliability, and avoid logistical bottlenecks.
Generals’ meeting
Earlier, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth ordered the gathering of hundreds of senior military officials - generals and admirals of one-star rank and above, as well as their senior commanders. The reason was not specified, while media outlets published various versions.
According to The Washington Post, US President Donald Trump wants to take part in the generals’ meeting.
