Defense chief Hegseth calls hundreds of generals to push 'warrior ethos' - Reuters

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth organized a gathering of hundreds of generals, reportedly to promote the so-called “warrior ethos,” according to Reuters.
Officials told the agency that the announced event is planned to take place at the Marine Corps University in Quantico, Virginia.
At the same time, some of the highest-ranking officials, who normally use US military aircraft for official travel, are expected to arrive at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
The agency noted that in nearly every public appearance, Hegseth speaks about the warrior ethos as a necessity for the US military to adopt a warrior mindset.
Former Fox News host Pete Hegseth has quickly begun reshaping the Department of Defense, dismissing senior generals and admirals in an effort to implement Trump’s national security agenda and eliminate diversity initiatives he considers discriminatory.
It should be added that US troops are stationed worldwide, including remote locations such as South Korea, Japan, and the Middle East, where commands are led by two-, three-, and four-star generals and admirals.
US generals’ meeting
Earlier in September, President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming the Department of Defense the Department of War, restoring the name used from 1789 to 1947 - a period when officials sought to emphasize the Pentagon’s role in preventing conflicts.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has expressed strong dissatisfaction with this renaming.
Recently, Hegseth announced an emergency meeting involving hundreds of US generals. Bloomberg suggested that the defense chief aims to discuss defense strategy with military leaders.
