"The Russians are not ending the war, even though all proposals to do so, all realistic formats and real opportunities—everything has long been on the table, and Putin must make a choice in favor of diplomacy and a normal peace," the president stressed.
According to him, the proposal for a direct meeting remains valid.
"Our proposal for a meeting—a proposal to Putin—for a direct and honest dialogue in a Ukraine-Russia format, with the support of partners, our proposal still stands. And it is important that this war ultimately ends with peace," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Meanwhile, at the G7 summit, the Ukrainian and American presidents discussed the possibility of holding a meeting with Putin on US territory. Zelenskyy stressed that if Moscow refuses, pressure on Russia should be increased.
Kyiv had previously conveyed the proposal for a leaders' meeting to Russia through intermediaries. Trump acknowledged at the G7 that Putin is currently in a weaker position and said that "Russia has to make a deal."
