Germany has stated that the Russian drone attack was not a "navigational error," as Moscow is trying to claim. Berlin will deliver a tough response to the Kremlin in reaction to the escalation, according to the statements by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul.

In particular, Pistorius stated that the drone attack on Poland was deliberate. Russia deliberately directed the Shahed drones toward Polish territory, and it cannot be called a navigational error.

Wadephul added that Russia has demonstrated a desire for escalation. Therefore, the Kremlin will face a tough response.

"With the drone’s penetration into Poland, Russia has accepted escalation. Russia is not ready for diplomacy, so we will deliver a strong response," he said.

Russia’s Defense Ministry publicly lied, claiming that the range of the drones that attacked Poland supposedly "does not exceed 700 kilometers," and asserted that "no targets in Poland had been planned." The Kremlin refused to comment on the situation.

Russian drones in Poland

On the night of September 10, a Russian attack with strike drones on Ukraine for the first time affected Poland, a NATO member. At least 19 drones entered the country’s territory, four of which were shot down. Poland’s Interior Ministry reported that seven drones and "remnants of a missile of unknown origin" had been identified.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization activated Article 4 in connection with the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones. This will allow member states to discuss the situation with allies in the North Atlantic Council.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte described the Alliance’s response to the incident in Poland as "very successful." He emphasized that the past night demonstrated NATO’s readiness to defend every inch of its territory, including its airspace.
