US and Iranian representatives are discussing holding a new round of talks to end the war. The next meeting may take place in Türkiye or Egypt, Bloomberg reports.
According to agency sources, the United States and Iran are negotiating the holding of another round of in-person meetings to achieve a long-term ceasefire, as previous discussions in Islamabad led by US Vice President JD Vance failed.
The sides want to meet before the two-week ceasefire announced on April 8 ends next week.
According to Bloomberg sources, representatives of Türkiye and Egypt have joined the dialogue aimed at ending the war, increasing the likelihood of holding a meeting in one of these two countries.
Agency sources said the talks may take place next week.
According to Associated Press, the United States and Iran are actively working on organizing a new round of talks to reach an agreement to end the conflict.
Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, is also being considered as a possible venue. In addition, Geneva could be another option.
US-Iran talks
On the night of April 8, US President Donald Trump said he agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran on condition of the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
He also stressed that the United States had allegedly achieved all military objectives and made significant progress toward a peace agreement.
Later, Trump declared a "total and complete" victory for the United States in the war, while Iran's Supreme National Security Council also declared its own victory and the defeat of the opponent.
On April 10, the US leader warned that the United States could resume hostilities if the sides do not reach a peace agreement, adding that Iran has weak positions ahead of the talks.
On April 12, US Vice President JD Vance said that talks with Iran held in Pakistan ended without results.
On the same day, it became known that Tehran rejected Washington's demands regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the nuclear program.
Meanwhile, Washington launched a full-scale operation to isolate Iran from the sea. By order of US President Donald Trump, 15 ships of various types are involved in the blockade.
