EU imposes 17th package of sanctions against Russia

The EU Council today adopted its largest package of measures targeting Putin's 'shadow fleet', doubling the number of vessels banned from port access and from receiving a wide range of services.

A total of 189 vessels from third countries have been sanctioned, bringing the total number of listed vessels to 342. These ships are part of Russia's 'shadow fleet' and are responsible for transporting Russian oil, engaging in high-risk shipping practices, or supporting Russia's energy sector.

The EU has imposed sanctions on over 45 Russian companies and individuals supplying the Russian army with drones, weapons, ammunition, military equipment, critical components, and logistical support.

Crown Prince of Norway arrives in Ukraine for first official visit

Crown Prince of Norway Haakon arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday, May 20, marking his first visit to Ukraine. He is also the first member of Norway’s royal family to visit the country in nearly 20 years.

According to the Norwegian government, the visit demonstrates Norway’s strong and ongoing support for the Ukrainian government and people. The Crown Prince is accompanied by Energy Minister Terje Aasland.

Trump suggests US may exit Ukraine peace talks

According to Trump, during a conversation with Putin, he asked: "When are we going to end this bloodshed (the war in Ukraine - ed.), this blood bath?"

He also added that the US might "back away" from the negotiations if the White House believes it cannot help, adding that "very big egos" are involved.

"I tell you, big egos involved, but I think something’s going to happen. And if it doesn’t, I just back away and they’re going to have to keep going," Trump said.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin, during yesterday’s conversation with US President Donald Trump, stated that Ukraine allegedly “attacked” Moscow on the eve of Victory Day.

In addition, Putin fantasized that “threats of terrorist attacks” in the area of the Kremlin and Red Square were allegedly prevented. Putin said these were so-called attempts to “intimidate” the leaders who came to Moscow on May 9 for the parade.

Zelenskyy says he's ready for new direct negotiations with Russia
