New Putin-Trump team meeting in works, Russia reveals its goal

Russian President Vladimir Putin's team is preparing for a new meeting with representatives of US President Donald Trump, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov says.
According to the Russian diplomat, the meeting's main goal is to remove "red flags" in bilateral relations.
Ryabkov also said the meeting would take place soon.
"In the coming weeks," he said when asked about the timing of the planned talks.
Ryabkov added that such meetings have, to some extent, become regular.
Despite this, the Russian diplomat complained that progress remains slower than expected.
"However, we are not giving up on this. We will continue moving forward," the Russian deputy foreign minister added.
US, Russia prepare for new Ukraine talks
The day before, media reported that Russian and US foreign ministers Sergei Lavrov and Marco Rubio could hold talks in New York soon.
The talks will most likely take place during the UN General Assembly.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova officially confirmed that Ukraine would be among the key topics of the meeting.
Recently, Lavrov said Russia plans to resolve the Ukraine issue by striking a "man-to-man" deal with Trump.
Amid recent developments, Russian lawmakers also revealed how they want to force Ukraine to surrender.
