Russia says it tried to strike 'man-to-man' deal with Trump on Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin's team has its own approach to US President Donald Trump regarding efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, according to the Russian outlet RBC.
According to the Russian diplomat, the Kremlin allegedly follows a peculiar tactic in diplomacy and tries to resolve problems "man-to-man."
Lavrov admitted that this approach was also used during talks with US President Donald Trump on ending the war against Ukraine.
"We are used to doing things, you could say, nobly, you could say, man-to-man, which is essentially the same thing," the Russian Foreign Minister claims.
According to Lavrov, it was with this mindset that Putin traveled to Anchorage a year ago to meet with Trump. The Kremlin leader allegedly expected to sign a corresponding agreement.
The Russian diplomat once again repeated that during the talks, the Kremlin leader "fully" agreed with Trump's proposals for ending the war in Ukraine.
"We shook on it," Lavrov claims.
However, according to the Russian Foreign Minister, EU representatives and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy intervened in the process and allegedly "buried" the agreements reached in Anchorage.
Against this backdrop, he claimed, the White House's position changed sharply, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for new approaches.
Interestingly, Lavrov does not deny that after the talks with Putin, Trump described the issue of handing over the entire Donbas region to Russia as difficult.
Earlier, the Russian State Duma revealed how it wants to force Ukraine to capitulate.
In addition, Lavrov admitted that he had complained to the Vatican about Ukrainians but did not receive the response he wanted.
