New Chinese Ambassador starts work in Ukraine
Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevhen Perebyinis received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine, Ma Shengkun. He begins his work in Kyiv today, according to the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"On November 21, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis received the copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine, Ma Shengkun," the statement reads.
The Deputy Minister congratulated the Chinese official on the start of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine and highlighted the positive trend in the activation of Ukrainian-Chinese political dialogue this year.
The parties also discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda, particularly in the context of using the significant potential for trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and China, as well as cooperation between the two countries in multilateral formats.
China's position on the Russia-Ukraine war
China claims to maintain a supposedly neutral position on the Russia-Ukraine war. However, Chinese companies continue to supply Russia with dual-use goods. Officially, there has been no confirmed transfer of Chinese weapons to Moscow.
At the same time, media outlets have repeatedly reported on the transfer of weapons to Russia. The European Union has stated that it has convincing evidence of such shipments and is preparing sanctions against China.
China has also developed its own so-called "peace plan" for Ukraine, which has been criticized in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called alternative peace initiatives destructive.
