Zelenskyy on alternative peace plans for Ukraine: These are merely political statements
The alternative peace plans for Ukraine are political statements. They contain no specifics and no action plan, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy believes that Ukraine's approach, taking into account steps on the battlefield and diplomacy, is closer to peace than any other proposals.
“Because this path is very complicated, and all the proposals available that you've heard from multiple countries of the world... I believe that today everything we can hear is just political statements. It's not a path, it's not a formula of any sort. It's not specific at any point. Some say he will put an end to this war in half a year, the other one in a year, the other would say he would need a day, the fourth expert believes the war will be finished in 2026 when Russia's economy will fall,” the Head of State noted.
Commenting on the peace plans of other countries, the President noted that these are only analytical, expert, and political statements, but “no one has any single plan”.
“Whoever might say that 'we support a diplomatic settlement', I always support this. We all want to have another situation where not a single soldier would be killed tomorrow, not a single citizen... But how can you agree with a rapist or a murderer? Like, 'We understand that you've already raped 15 people and you killed another 30, but let's talk. Come on, please don't do that.” It's not gonna work like that with a person like that. He's not afraid of political intimidation, I'm talking about Putin,” Zelenskyy said.
Peace plans for Ukraine
Ukraine has proposed its own diplomatic way to achieve peace. It is a peace formula based on international law and the principles of the UN Charter.
Ukraine held the first peace summit in Switzerland in June 2024 and is now preparing for the second.
Some countries have proposed their own so-called peace plans for Ukraine. These include China and Brazil. However, Ukraine rejects them.
