The number of people injured in Kyiv has risen to 79, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reports.
As of 12:00 p.m., authorities had also reported six people killed in Kyiv.
Tkachenko noted that rescue operations are still ongoing at several locations, meaning the number of injured and fatalities could change.
Residential buildings, administrative facilities, and medical institutions were damaged across various districts of the capital. A car dealership belonging to Chinese automaker Zeekr was completely destroyed by fire.
Most of the fires have already been extinguished.
Among the injured are three children aged 3, 11, and 17.
It should be recalled that Russia directed the main strike of today's attack at the Ukrainian capital. The enemy used around 70 missiles and nearly 700 drones. Most were intercepted, but dozens of ballistic missiles reached their targets, as Ukraine's air defenses struggle to counter them.
Earlier in the morning, Russia also struck one of Naftogaz's most important facilities in the Kharkiv region. The attack began with drones and was later followed by missiles.
During today's assault on Ukraine, Russia increased its use of Zircon missiles. Ukrainian air defenses were unable to intercept them, as not all systems are capable of engaging such targets. Security analyst Anton Zemlianyi explained the characteristics of the Zircon missile in a comment to RBC-Ukraine and assessed whether Russia can use them on a large scale.
