Russia launches 729 drones and missiles at Ukraine in one of war's largest attacks

Russia launched one of its largest combined attacks on Ukraine overnight, using more than 700 aerial weapons simultaneously, with Kyiv as the primary target, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
A total of 729 aerial attack weapons were recorded: 73 missiles and 656 drones.
Missile component:

8 Zircon hypersonic missiles launched from temporarily occupied Crimea and Russia's Kursk region;

33 Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched from Russia's Bryansk, Kursk, and Rostov regions, as well as Crimea;

27 Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from Russia's Vologda region;
-
5 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Caspian Sea.
Drone component: 656 attack drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, Banderol loitering munitions, and Parodiya decoy drones.
What air defenses shot down
As of 08:30 a.m., air defenses had destroyed 642 targets — 40 missiles and 602 drones.
Specifically, they shot down:

11 Iskander-M ballistic missiles;

26 Kh-101 cruise missiles;

3 Kalibr cruise missiles;

602 enemy drones of various types.
According to preliminary data, 33 missiles and 33 attack drones struck targets at 38 locations. Debris from downed drones fell at 15 additional locations.
The main strike was directed at Kyiv. Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava region, and other regions were also attacked.
The overnight attack left people dead and injured in several cities. According to reports on the consequences of the strikes on Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro, four people were killed and 58 injured in the capital, five people were killed and 25 injured in Dnipro, while 10 people, including a child, were injured in Kharkiv.
Russia launched a second ballistic missile attack on Kyiv on the morning of June 2. A series of loud explosions was heard across the city, and residents were urged to immediately seek shelter.
