New British Prime Minister supports military aid to Ukraine and its membership in NATO
The newly elected Prime Minister of the UK, Keir Starmer, has agreed on the necessity of arming Ukraine and supporting its bid for membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), according to the Associated Press (AP).
On Wednesday, July 24, the Prime Minister participated in the weekly Prime Minister’s Questions session in the House of Commons.
Starmer told opposition leader Rishi Sunak that he fully agreed on the necessity of arming Ukraine and putting it on the path to NATO membership.
This was the first session following the Labour Party's victory in the parliamentary elections.

In late May, then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak dissolved Parliament and scheduled early elections for July 4.
As a result of the vote, the Labour Party won the majority of seats in the House of Commons for the first time in 14 years. The new Prime Minister is 61-year-old Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party.
The new head of government confirmed the authorization to use British missiles against Russian territory. Starmer also promised to double military support for Ukraine.
The British Prime Minister assured continued aid to Ukraine in its war with Russia.
