NATO Secretary General responds on how he envisions lasting peace in Ukraine

Future security guarantees for Ukraine must ensure that President Vladimir Putin never attempts to attack the country again, states NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, according to The Telegraph.
According to Rutte, the "shortest answer" to the question of security guarantees is taking measures that will ensure for Kyiv that "Putin will never, ever try again to get one square kilometre or one square mile of Ukraine in the future, that he knows that there is a deterrence and a defence by which Ukraine can never be attacked in the future."
He also added that NATO member states continue to provide significant defense support to Ukraine, including equipment and ammunition.
Security guarantees for Ukraine
Ukraine needs effective security guarantees to prevent a future recurrence of war with Russia. Previous agreements, such as the Budapest Memorandum, failed to stop aggression, making a new format of international commitments essential for the country.
The key goal is to create conditions under which Russia would not dare to launch another attack. To achieve this, Ukraine is seeking NATO membership or the conclusion of security agreements with leading global powers.
