Another meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council will take place on Thursday, October 17. It will be held at the level of defense ministers, announces NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

According to Rutte, the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting will take place on Thursday evening. During the meeting, defense ministers from NATO member countries will meet with their Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov.

It is expected that the participants will discuss the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine and the most urgent needs of Ukrainian defenders.

Rutte also added that work on establishing a new NATO command in Wiesbaden to coordinate aid and training for Ukrainian soldiers, as well as fulfilling the promise to allocate 40 billion euros in military assistance to Ukraine, is progressing smoothly.

"NATO Allies provided 20.9 billion euros in military assistance to Ukraine during the first half of 2024 and Allies are on track to meet their commitments for the rest of the year," emphasized the Secretary General.

Previous Ukraine-NATO Council meeting

The previous Ukraine-NATO Council meeting took place on August 28. It was attended by NATO ambassadors.

At that time, then-NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that during the meeting, allies announced plans to increase military assistance to Ukraine.
