Stoltenberg after NATO-Ukraine Council meeting: Allies confirm increased support for Ukrainian Armed Forces
The countries of the North Atlantic Alliance will increase military assistance to Ukraine. This issue was discussed during a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, stated NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
The Secretary General said that Ukraine continues to destroy Russian missiles every day, and this saves lives of civilians. However, the ability of Ukrainian defenders to defend themselves requires more supplies and support.
"In the wake of the latest Russian assault, Allies today reaffirmed they are stepping up their military aid to Ukraine. We must continue to provide Ukraine with the equipment and munitions it needs to defend itself against Russia’s invasion. This is vital for Ukraine’s ability to stay in the fight,” added Stoltenberg.
At the same time, the Alliance clarified that today's meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council was held at the ambassadorial level. During the meeting, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov spoke about the current security situation and Ukraine's priority needs.
