NATO countries need to change trajectory of Russia-Ukraine war - Rutte
NATO countries have helped Ukraine withstand Russia's full-scale war. However, it is now necessary to change the course of the conflict, stated NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, according to The Guardian.
"Our support for Ukraine has kept them in the fight, but we need to go further to change the trajectory of the conflict,” he said.
According to him, NATO countries need to provide Ukraine with critical air defense and fulfill all the commitments made at the NATO summit in Washington.
"The new command, the Nato command to coordinate security assistance and training (NSATU), the financial pledge of 40 billion euros in 2024, and further measures to bring Ukraine closer to NATO," Rutte added.
The Secretary General also emphasized that it is very important for NATO to increase investment and production in the arms industry.
Frontline situation
Russia continues to make progress on the eastern front in Ukraine. According to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, the most challenging situation is currently around Kurakhove.
Efforts are ongoing near the city to strengthen the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
According to the President of Ukraine, there are threats in the Zaporizhzhia direction that require attention.
