NATO changes its approach to assisting Ukraine in field of armaments
NATO is considering the possibility of taking on the coordination of weapon supplies to Ukraine, informs Handelsblatt.
This represents a shift in course, as previously, the alliance did not directly intervene in the matter of weapon supplies, leaving it to the discretion of individual member countries.
The leadership of the alliance aims to integrate the Ramstein format into NATO structures. This decision may be an effort to safeguard against potential changes in U.S. policy.
There are concerns within NATO that the supply of weapons to Ukraine from the U.S. could cease if Donald Trump wins the elections in November.
The plan for integration was developed by the National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, Jake Sullivan, and the Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg.
