A nuclear facility in the Iranian city of Natanz was reportedly hit during airstrikes carried out as part of the US and Israeli military operation, Reuters reports.

“Again they attacked Iran's peaceful, safeguarded nuclear facilities yesterday,” Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Reza Najafi, said.

When asked by Reuters which facilities were targeted, he said Natanz was among them.

What the IAEA says

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that, at this time, there are no indications that any nuclear installations — including the Bushehr nuclear power plant, the Tehran Research Reactor, or other nuclear fuel cycle facilities — were damaged in the airstrikes.

Iran rebuilding nuclear capacity

In early February, satellite images showed renewed activity at damaged Iranian nuclear sites following US and Israeli strikes.

The images clearly indicated that roofs had reappeared over buildings at two key facilities — in Natanz and Isfahan — which had previously sustained significant damage.

This marked the first recorded activity at these locations since hostilities ended in June and may signal a shift from damage assessment to reconstruction efforts.

Middle East situation

On February 28, Israel, together with the United States, launched a series of strikes against Iran. According to President Donald Trump, the US initiated a military campaign to eliminate threats posed by the current regime.

Media reports say Trump ordered a large-scale air assault on Iran after sustained lobbying from Israel and Saudi Arabia. As a result of the strikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed.
