Mercenaries from China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and African countries join Russia's war in Ukraine

Russia is using mercenaries from China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and African countries in battles against Ukrainian defenders in the Vovchansk direction, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The head of the Ukrainian state said that he visited the soldiers of the 17th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 57th Brigade named after Koshovyi Otaman Kost Hordiienko in the Vovchansk direction.
According to the President, he discussed with the commanders the situation on the front line, the defense of Vovchansk, and the dynamics of the fighting. Separate issues included the provision and use of drones, recruitment, and direct funding of brigades.
"Soldiers in this direction are recording the participation of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and African countries in the war. We will respond," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The head of state also added that he presented state awards to the defenders.
Chinese captured by Ukrainian forces
On April 8, Ukrainian defenders managed to capture two Chinese citizens who were fighting on the side of Russia in the Donetsk region.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that there are many more Chinese nationals within the ranks of the Russian army than just those two.
On June 27, it became known that another Chinese national was captured by Ukrainian defenders. He was 24-year-old Wang Wu.
A few months ago, The Telegraph reported that Russia is deceitfully recruiting individuals from African countries to fight in the war against Ukraine.
