Massive drone attack on Ukraine: Strikes, fires, and many wounded reported

Late on March 26, Russian forces launched another drone attack on Ukraine, targeting at least Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Sumy. Fires were reported, and there are casualties.
Kharkiv
Explosions were heard in Kharkiv starting at approximately 20:41 Kyiv time as Russian forces launched drone attacks on the city. Within an hour, at least 12 strikes were recorded.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported damage to residential buildings, vehicles, and utility structures. President Volodymyr Zelenskyн, responding to the attacks on Ukrainian cities, stated that as of 22:48 Kyiv time, 8 people had been injured in Kharkiv.
"More than a dozen drones have already struck our Kharkiv today - one of Ukraine’s largest cities. Residential buildings have been damaged, and as of now, eight people have been injured, including a 12-year-old girl," President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement.
Later, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that Russia had carried out 12 strikes across various city districts, primarily hitting residential buildings. A boiler facility supplying heat to one district was destroyed, and a civilian enterprise sustained damage, with firefighters working to contain the blaze.
Beyond Kharkiv, the wider region was also targeted. Kharkiv Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported an attack on the settlement of Zolochiv.
"As a result of the enemy drone strike on Zolochiv, seven people were injured. Three suffered blast wounds, while four others experienced acute stress reactions. All are receiving necessary medical care," the statement read at 23:00 Kyiv time.
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office provided updated details on the attack on Zolochiv in the Kharkiv region.
According to the investigation, the strike took place between 20:40 and 21:05. One house was completely destroyed, while at least 12 others sustained damage. An administrative building, a local stadium, and power lines were also hit.
In total, eight people were injured in the attack, including a four-year-old girl.
"An 18-year-old woman, her 26-year-old brother, and a 67-year-old woman sustained multiple shrapnel wounds and were hospitalized. Five others suffered acute stress reactions, including a four-year-old girl, three women aged 46, 66, and 69, and a 48-year-old man," the statement said.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) released photos showing the aftermath of the attack on Kharkiv. According to preliminary reports, nine people were injured, though the information is still being verified.
"On the evening of March 26, the enemy launched a massive strike with combat drones on the civilian infrastructure and residential areas of Kharkiv. Four fires broke out, and buildings were destroyed or damaged. The largest fire, covering an area of 2,500 square meters, occurred in a production building," the statement said.

The National Police also published footage of the aftermath of the massive drone attack in the Kharkiv region and clarified the details.
"It has been recorded that several areas of the city were hit, as well as the Zolochiv community. 16 civilians, including three children, were injured," the statement says.

Dmytro Chubenko, spokesperson for the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, reported on the aftermath of the massive drone attack on Kharkiv. He noted that from 20:40 to 21:20, the Russians carried out up to 15 strikes on the Slobidskyi and Kyivskyi districts of the city. As of now, the number of injured has risen to 10.
Dnipro
Around 22:28 Kyiv time, loud explosions were heard in Dnipro as Russian forces launched a drone attack on the city. According to Dnipropetrovsk Regional Governor Serhii Lysak, the attack caused a fire.
"As a result of the drone strike, several fires broke out in Dnipro, including vehicles and infrastructure facilities. All emergency services are working. We are currently determining if there are any casualties," he added at 23:04 Kyiv time.
Sumy
The city of Sumy was also targeted in a drone attack, but details regarding the aftermath of the strike are not yet available.
On the night of March 26, Russia launched 117 drones at Ukraine. By 9 a.m. Kyiv time, air defense forces had shot down 56 of the drones, and another 48 were locally lost. As a result of the attack, the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy regions were affected.
