The Kremlin cynically claimed that supplying weapons to Ukrainian soldiers does not contribute to peace. In reality, Moscow aims to disarm Ukraine and fully occupy it, according to TASS and Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Peskov's statement

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented today on US President Donald Trump's decision to resume arms deliveries to Ukraine.

He noted that "there have been many contradictory statements" regarding the suspension of American military aid.

"It is obvious that the supply of weapons to Ukraine continues, and it is clear that Europeans are also actively participating in arming Ukraine. These actions hardly contribute to efforts aimed at peaceful resolution," he complained.

Kovalenko's response

According to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, "In Putin's logic, it's simple — he wants the whole of Ukraine, disarmed, defenseless, and under Russia's control. But that will not happen. It's impossible, and not only Ukrainians but also Western partners disagree with that."

He added that Russia also seeks to receive weapons and manpower from North Korea, components and technologies from China, and gradually involve fighters from African countries and Laos — all while expecting no response from the West.

"Next, Putin will want to just walk into the Baltics. And then he'll claim that Poland, as a former member of the Warsaw Pact, is within Russia's sphere of influence. It's a blunt and bizarre assumption from Russia to think no one will react to rising threats," Kovalenko noted.

According to him, such behavior only reinforces the "need to dismantle the Putin regime."

What Trump said

US President Donald Trump previously stated that the United States would send even more weapons to Ukraine, emphasizing that the country must defend itself against Russia.

According to him, the focus is primarily on defensive weapons.
