In Kharkiv, the death toll has risen again following a Russian missile strike on the city that occurred on January 2. Fragments of another victim’s body were found under the rubble, according to a Telegram post from the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

"Fragments of another victim’s body were found in Kharkiv at the site of the enemy strikes," wrote the head of the regional administration.

This brings the total number of victims of the Russian attack on residential buildings in Kharkiv on January 2 to six.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported on the afternoon of January 4 that another body fragment had been found at the site of the Russian attack, and earlier, during the night of January 4, the remains of another victim had been discovered. As of January 4, five deaths were confirmed, including a child.

On January 2, Russian forces struck central Kharkiv with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles. The missiles hit a multi-story residential building, damaging a five-story building and part of the entrance of a four-story apartment building.

Twenty-seven people were injured, and six deaths have so far been confirmed. Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the site of the Russian attack. According to local authorities, up to five people may have been trapped under the rubble. Three bodies have already been recovered.
