Kellogg reacts to Russia’s massive strike on Kyiv

Russia’s massive attacks on Ukraine threaten the peace that US President Donald Trump seeks, stated US Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg.
Kellogg noted that Russia carried out the second-largest airstrike since the start of the full-scale war, using 600 drones and 31 missiles.
"The targets? Not soldiers and weapons but residential areas in Kyiv—blasting civilian trains, the EU and British mission council offices, and innocent civilians. These egregious attacks threaten the peace that President Trump is pursuing," he said.
Massive strike on Kyiv
On the night of August 28, Russian forces carried out another massive attack on Ukraine, launching over 600 drones and various types of missiles.
Among the targets was the fleet of high-speed Intercity+ trains.
In addition, Russian forces carried out a massive combined attack on Kyiv. The Russian army struck the capital with Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, including Kinzhal missiles.
Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat said this was one of the heaviest attacks on the capital.
As a result of the nighttime attack, destruction was recorded across all districts of Kyiv. This is the first time such widespread damage has occurred since the start of the full-scale war.
In particular, in the Darnytskyi district, a missile hit a five-story residential building. One entrance was completely destroyed, with the impact hitting the third and fourth floors, causing extensive damage. So far, 19 casualties have been reported.
Diplomatic facilities were also targeted by Russia. The building of the European Union mission in Ukraine was damaged.
European Council President António Costa stated that the Russians deliberately damaged the building of the European Union delegation, which supports Ukraine in the war. However, the European community will not be intimidated by this.
At the same time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted that Russia attacked diplomats, which is a direct violation of the Vienna Convention.
