If the new leader of the Iranian regime, Mojtaba Khamenei, is neutralized, it could lead to stabilization of the situation in the Middle East, according to an exclusive comment by Beni Sabti, Iran expert at the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies (INSS).
He emphasized that the destabilization of the Middle East occurs because of the Iranian regime, and key to stability is the removal of the leader, Mojtaba.
"If we actually neutralize Mojtaba's leadership, if he is hit and he is not there, then the regime will fall, and there actually will be more stability in this region because they won't have any guidance," the expert explained.
Sabti added that a strike on Mojtaba will also deal a strong blow to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Perhaps at first there will be internal clashes or several missile attacks, but this could put an end to confrontations against neighbors and against Israel.
"Because if you take from them the hope, the spirit... if they see that after the father, the son is also gone in a few days, this can be a huge damage to their morality, and morale is sometimes more important than missiles or physical power. So I think the key is what we do with this Mojtaba," the expert stressed.
Election of a new leader in Iran
At the height of the war in Iran, an even more radical leader appeared — Mojtaba Khamenei. He was chosen after the United States and Israel eliminated his father, ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on February 28 at the beginning of the military operation.
The election of a new supreme leader of Iran, rahbar, took place in emergency order amid constant attacks from the United States and Israel.
Security structures insisted on a quick determination of a successor to avoid political destabilization after the death of Khamenei. This is what allowed the promotion of the candidacy of Mojtaba Khamenei.
According to estimates of sources, the arrival of Mojtaba may change the balance of influence in the Iranian elite, since his appointment strengthens the positions of security structures and weakens other groups of influence.
The new leader is considered ultraconservative and supports strengthening support for terrorist groups in the region, as well as harsh suppression of protests inside the country.
More details about who Mojtaba is and why his election as leader of Iran brings the end of the regime closer can be read in the RBC-Ukraine report.
