As a result of a series of missile strikes by the US and Israel, at least four members of the family of Ali Khamenei were killed, along with several high-ranking Iranian officials, according to a post by the Fars news agency on X.

Victims of the operation

Among those killed were the ayatollah’s daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, as well as one of his daughters-in-law. Agency sources stressed that earlier reports about the deaths of these family members have proven to be accurate.

Confirmation of daughter-in-law’s death

One of Khamenei’s daughters-in-law was killed in the strikes early Saturday morning, February 28, when the missile attacks were carried out.

These developments come amid a large-scale military operation by the US and Israel against Iran, which has resulted in significant losses among the country’s top leadership and members of the supreme leader’s family.

Consequences for Iran

Reports of the deaths of relatives and senior officials close to Ali Khamenei point to the high effectiveness of strikes on strategic targets in Tehran and could become a major factor shaping the country’s domestic and foreign policy in the coming days.

Iran’s crown prince, Reza Pahlavi, after confirmation of the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called the event the beginning of a national celebration and the de facto end of the Islamic Republic.

Meanwhile, global oil prices have surged to a seven-month high, and tankers have suspended movement through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz — just part of the fallout from the new war between Israel, the US, and Iran. At the same time, the US could deplete its annual stockpile of critical interceptor missiles intended for Ukraine in just one to two days of operations, creating a shortage in air defense systems.
