Hundreds of air defense missiles were delivered to Ukraine five months ahead of schedule, according to the UK Ministry of Defense.

Minister for Defense Readiness and Industry, Luke Pollard, led a trade delegation that visited Kyiv this week to boost military support for Ukraine.

"Crucial missiles for Ukraine are months ahead of their delivery schedule," the statement said.

This became possible after Ukraine's largest drone manufacturer invested £200 million in drone production in the United Kingdom, creating 500 new jobs.

The Defense Ministry noted that these missiles, known as Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMM), have been protecting Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.

"The latest phase of a £1.6 billion deal signed earlier in the year will enable those battle-winning missiles to be integrated further into Ukraine’s air defence system, in a significant step for Ukraine’s own sovereign capabilities," the statement added.

Pollard also emphasized that the UK is reinforcing its unwavering commitment to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s illegal invasion.

"This year alone we are spending £4.5 billion on military support for Ukraine, more than ever before," he said.

British aid to Ukraine

In September, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper visited Kyiv and announced a $190 million winter aid package.

The UK has also extended the Ukraine Permission Extension program for an additional 24 months.
