Germany likely to approve additional €3 billion in military aid to Ukraine

Germany is expected to allocate an additional €3 billion in military aid to Ukraine. There are no more obstacles to this, said Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Tagesschau reports.
Merz anticipates that the Bundesrat will approve the new aid package for Ukraine on Friday, March 21.
The future chancellor believes there are no more problems with the allocation of 3 billion euros for Ukraine.
3 billion euros for Ukraine
Germany had considered allocating an additional 3 billion euros to help Ukraine before the parliamentary elections on February 23. However, Chancellor Olaf Scholz blocked consideration of this issue. He justified this by saying that the allocation of such aid should be considered after the elections.
After the election, CDU leader Friedrich Merz promised that a decision on additional billion-dollar aid to Ukraine would be made.
On March 6, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius noted that Germany had formed a €3 billion package of military aid to Ukraine.
He emphasized that he supports such assistance and that it is the subject of negotiations between the CDU/CSU and the SPD.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Germany has provided Ukraine with the largest military aid among European countries.
