Germany will continue to support Ukraine, and the results of the US elections will not affect this stance. Berlin also assures that it will provide everything necessary to Kyiv, even if the G7 countries do not deliver the planned billion-dollar aid by the end of the year, according to German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck.

He noted that if Donald Trump becomes US President and decides to withhold aid from Ukraine, Germany "will not leave Ukraine alone." According to him, in the event of such a US election outcome, other partners "will have to work even harder."

"It would be extremely dangerous if Ukraine lost this war. Freedom in Europe would be at risk. Therefore, we have a vested interest in Ukraine standing up to Russian aggression," the Vice Chancellor emphasized.

He also stated that the G7 countries are expected to provide Ukraine with the planned billion-dollar aid by the end of 2024. Ukraine will receive 50 billion, with an additional four billion available from the federal budget for the following year.

If this does not happen, the Vice Chancellor of Germany stressed that Germany will continue to assist Ukraine "without any ifs and buts." He explained that in such a case, support would need to be “provided in a different way.”

German assistance to Ukraine

At the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, none of Ukraine's Western partners were certain whether Berlin would provide not only humanitarian and financial aid but also military assistance to Ukraine.

However, the German government finally made this decision at the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression. Germany has not backed down from it, despite Russia's attempts to influence it through its pro-Kremlin politicians.

When rumors recently began to spread that Berlin might be looking to withdraw or reduce its assistance to Ukraine, Chancellor Olaf Scholz denied all such accusations. Instead, Germany assured that its support for Kyiv would continue "for as long as necessary".

It is worth noting that recently Berlin provided Ukraine with a new military aid package, which included IRIS-T air defense systems and Vector drones.
