Fragments of Russian Shahed drone found again in Romania
On the territory of Romania, opposite the Ukrainian city of Izmail, fragments of a Shahed strike drone were discovered once again on Tuesday, September 24, according to the Romanian Ministry of Defense.
As reported by the Romanian Ministry of Defense, military personnel were surveying the area in search of possible drone fragments that might have fallen there during recent Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian ports along the Danube.
On September 24, specialists examined the territory around the village of Plauru in Tulcea County, where reports of possible drone debris had been received. They retrieved the fragments and sent them for further examination.
The ministry noted that the find is initially considered to be debris from the Iranian Shahed drone, which Russia uses under the name Geran-2.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense once again condemned Russia's strikes on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and emphasized that this violates international law.
Not the first incident
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Romania has repeatedly reported discovering fragments of Russian drones on its territory.
For example, after the Russian attack on Ukraine on July 31, new drone fragments were found in the Chatalchioi area of Tulcea County.
Additionally, on August 20, fragments of Russian drones were again discovered in Romania.
A similar find was reported on September 9.
Moreover, according to the Air Force, a Russian drone entered Romania from the Odesa region on the night of September 8. At that time, residents of Romanian counties bordering Ukraine received alerts about the threat of falling objects.
