Talks in Geneva between the Ukrainian and US delegations were a step forward, but there are still important issues to resolve, according to Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
According to Stubb, he spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the morning of Monday, November 24.
"I welcome the progress made during yesterday's meetings between the US and Ukraine in Geneva. The talks were a step forward, but there are still important issues that need to be resolved," Stubb wrote after the conversation.
"Any decision that falls within the competence of the EU or NATO will be discussed and adopted by EU and NATO members separately," he added.
Geneva talks
Yesterday, November 23, discussions on a peace plan began in Geneva with representatives from the US, Ukraine, the UK, France, and Germany.
The final version of the plan will be agreed upon at a meeting between Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and US President Trump.
Reuters, citing a US official, reported that the preliminary talks were "productive and even conclusive in some areas."
Zelenskyy has already commented on the outcome of the first Geneva talks. Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, also said that the revised plan includes "many Ukrainian priorities."
It was also reported that following the Geneva talks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the Washington team will make some changes to the American peace plan.
