The United States has presented an updated package of proposals for settling the situation in Ukraine and announced significant progress in the negotiations taking place in Geneva, according to a DRM News publication on YouTube.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the settlement plan developed by Washington contains between 26 and 28 points.

The exact number depends on the version of the document, which continues to be adjusted following consultations with the Ukrainian side.

Rubio stated that the US delegation arrived "with one goal - to take the 28 points or 26 points, depending on the version, as the document kept evolving, and try to reduce the number of unresolved issues."

According to him, the discussions were the result of months of work and continuous exchanges of proposals.

Active phase of consultations

During the briefing, Rubio noted that engagement with Kyiv had been extremely intensive in recent days.

Representatives of various Ukrainian institutions took part in the discussions, which helped clarify key positions.

"We had a very good day today. I think we made enormous progress," he said, adding that the document remains a working basis.

He emphasised that over the previous 96 hours, the US team held a series of detailed meetings in Kyiv to narrow down the list of disputed provisions.

"We came here today with a single objective and today we achieved that in a very substantial way," Rubio said.

Issues still outstanding

Despite the progress, the final approval of the plan depends on decisions made at the level of national leaders.

"This was the most productive day, but work remains," Rubio concluded, noting that final details still require further refinement.

For this reason, he said, it is too early to speak about final results or approved decisions, and he stressed that the work will continue.

Following the Geneva consultations with the Ukrainian and European delegations, all sides noted significant progress in discussing the next steps toward a settlement in Ukraine. As Marco Rubio stressed, the talks produced substantial progress that, in his words, allows the parties to expect real results.

After the first day of negotiations in Geneva, it became clear that the deadline set by US President Donald Trump for Ukraine to sign the peace agreement is likely to be reviewed and pushed to a later date.
