F-16 for Ukraine - Kyiv to receive first group of fighters by the New Year
Ukraine will receive the first group of F-16 fighters by the New Year when Ukrainian military personnel complete their training, states Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, during a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"As for when we plan to provide the aircraft, I hope that closer to the New Year, the first group of aircraft will leave Danish soil and head to Ukraine. Approximately six of them," she stated.
Additionally, the Prime Minister added that next year, another 8 aircraft will head from Denmark to Ukraine, and another 5 in the following year.
F-16 for Ukraine
The F-16 fighter jets are necessary for Ukraine not only to defend against regular Russian terrorist attacks but also to allow Ukrainian military personnel to compete with Russian aviation.
Recently, the United States approved the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands. Jake Sullivan, a national security advisor to the US President, mentioned that Ukraine would receive the aircraft after pilot training is completed.
Today the Netherlands announced that they will provide Ukraine with 42 American fighter jets.
Additionally, Denmark has promised to transfer 19 fighter jets to Ukraine.
