Additionally, Russian media reported that a siren sounded in the Severnoye district before the explosions.
"Update: Preliminary reports suggest a drone was shot down. No official comments are available yet," the Telegram channel Eto Rostov stated.
A video was also posted on the network in which a siren can be heard and later sounds similar to muffled explosions or shooting as a result of the operation of, presumably, air defense systems.
At the same time, no statements from local authorities or officials regarding the airstrike or its consequences in the Rostov region have been made.
Drone attacks in the Rostov region
Explosions in Russia's Rostov region amid reports of airstrikes are not unprecedented.
In early November, an unidentified drone targeted a military training ground near the city of Novocherkask in the Rostov region, a location housing Russian conscripts.
At the end of September, a drone attack sparked a massive wildfire in the Milyutinsky district of the region. Russian media speculated that drones might have targeted the Millerovo military airfield, with satellite imagery capturing evidence of fires in the vicinity.
On the night of August 3, drones reportedly attacked a military airfield in Morozovsk, Rostov region.
Additionally, in mid-June, reports indicated that drones attacked Morozovsk, leading to fires, power outages, and disruptions in the city.
