Estonia to purchase €400 million worth of drones amid Ukraine war
Estonia is planning a large-scale purchase of various types of attack drones. About 400 million euros will be spent, ERR reports.
According to media reports, the Estonian Defense Investment Center has announced that it is preparing to purchase various types of attack drones over the next 7 years. About 400 million euros will be spent. The decision was reportedly inspired by the experience of the war in Ukraine.
“Our goal is to find as many contractors as possible who can offer different solutions,” said Ramil Lipp, a representative of the center.
It is noted that the full range of attack drones will be purchased - short and long-range, those that drop ammunition on a found target, and kamikaze drones, as well as related equipment necessary for the effective use of these systems.
Earlier, we wrote that Estonia wants to start producing ammunition at the beginning of next year. It is planned to produce ammunition in the military town of Emari no later than early 2025.
